We're taking part in the National Tile-Removal Championship again
We are once again participating in the National Tile-Removal Championship this year. This will be the final edition of the NK Tegelwippen. From 19 March to 31 October 2026, municipalities across the Netherlands will compete to replace as many tiles as possible with greenery. We’re pulling out all the stops to make this the greenest year yet! Participants must submit a before-and-after photo of their garden, yard, or front garden as proof. The removed tiles will be counted towards our tile-removal total.
In recent years, we’ve collectively removed an enormous number of tiles to make way for greenery, and we have every reason to be proud. More and more gardens and neighbourhoods are giving way to green spaces—not only does this look better, but it’s also essential. Greenery helps capture rainwater and provides cooling on hot days. That’s why we’re once again joining the National Tile-Removal Championship with fresh enthusiasm.
Will you join us?
From now on, anyone can register their removed tiles via the NK Tegelwippen website (link is external). Participants upload a photo of their removed tiles, and the tiles are automatically added to our total. Every tile counts!
Tile taxi in our municipality
Starting in April, a tile taxi will be operating in our municipality. It will help residents dispose of their removed tiles free of charge. The tile taxi can be requested for a minimum of 1 m² and a maximum of 25 m² of tiles. Residents can indicate in the Fixi app whether they wish to use this service. For more information on using the Fixi app, visit the Fixi reporting page. Further details about actions during the National Tile-Removal Championship will follow later. For more information and the terms and conditions of the tile taxi, visit the NK Tegelwippen page (link is external).
