Boost your garden: free compost on March 28!
The spring is just around the corner. Time to enjoy a cup of coffee outside in the garden once again and watch the first flowers bloom. Treat your garden to an extra boost by enriching the soil with a special raw material: compost! HVC produces this raw material from your separated food waste and garden waste. Food scraps, potato peels, and peanut shells are the basis for compost. To thank you for separating your food and garden waste, we are offering free compost on Compost Day, Saturday, March 28. The compost is certified Keurcompost, so you can be sure it is sustainably produced for use.
Free compost
On Compost Day, Saturday, March 28, you can collect free compost at the municipal yard of the Municipality of Schagen (Zijperweg 10, Schagen). This is possible between 8:00 AM and 12:30 PM. Please note: To ensure as many residents as possible can collect compost, you can take home a maximum of 0.5 m³. No registration is required, so just come by!
Route
For a safe route and to keep the industrial estate accessible, we ask you to drive to the municipal yard via the Lagedijkerweg. The attached route map shows you the exact route to follow. There will also be traffic controllers at the roundabout to guide traffic toward the Lagedijkerweg. This will help keep the industrial estate accessible for businesses and prevent congestion at the roundabout.
Over 20 kilos of compost from a full food waste bin
Did you know that a full 140-litre food waste bin equals over 20 kilos of compost? By mixing compost with garden soil, you improve the soil structure and help the ground absorb rainwater better. Additionally, compost activates life in the soil and stores nutrients for plants.
Collecting compost at HVC
During Compost Day, you can also collect free compost at the HVC composting facility in Purmerend (Netwerk 60-62). To ensure everyone is helped efficiently, HVC asks you to register for a time slot. You can register via the HVC website. You can have a cubic metre of compost loaded into your trailer using a crane. Alternatively, you can load the compost yourself; in that case, please bring your own container or bag. You are welcome to arrive by car, bicycle, or on foot.
More information about compost can be found on the HVC website.
