Students plant new trees on Tree Planting Day
In the municipality of Staphorst, Tree Planting Day was celebrated on Thursday, March 19. Around 850 new trees were planted in the De Zwarte Dennen nature area. About 200 students helped plant approximately 300 English oaks, 300 linden trees, and 250 elms that day. Municipal councillor Jan Carlo Bos also lent a hand.
Most of the students came from grades 7 and 8 of primary schools in the municipality of Staphorst. During their walk through the forest to the planting site, the students were given a scavenger hunt, and they were also offered hot chocolate by the cheese factory in Rouveen.
