Free compost available on National Compost Day
On Saturday, March 28, you can collect free compost at the parking lot of sports hall De Zien (at the back right corner) in Uitgeest. This will be available from 9:00 AM, while supplies last.
We are offering the compost as a thank-you to residents for separating their vegetable, fruit, and garden waste and food scraps (gft+e) over the past year.
Benefits of compost
Gft+e is converted into compost after a period of decomposition. This compost naturally improves the soil in your garden or flower pots. It provides nutrients to plants, retains moisture, and protects the soil from cold. Compost is the most eco-friendly soil improver.
Important to know
You will need to collect the compost yourself. Please bring a shovel and a container, such as a bucket, tub, sturdy bag, or trailer. If you come with a trailer, make sure to bring a tarp to cover it, or you may face a fine.
