Improvement of rainwater drainage in part of Bakkerstraat
On Monday, March 23, the municipality will begin work on Bakkerstraat to address the issue of rainwater nuisance. Currently, after heavy rainfall, water remains standing on the street for too long. This causes inconvenience, particularly because splashing water from passing cars enters some homes.
To resolve this, an additional underground pipe will be installed on the side of the even-numbered houses, in the section of Bakkerstraat between Meule and Hofstraat, to improve rainwater drainage.
Traffic measures
The work will take place on the side of the roadway, allowing the street to remain open to traffic. During the work, one lane will be closed at a time. The work is expected to last six weeks, until May 1. Some inconvenience is unavoidable.
To minimize disruption, the contractor will divide the total work area into sections of 20 to 30 meters. In the section where the contractor is active, parking spaces will be unavailable. As mentioned earlier, the adjacent lane will also be closed to ensure sufficient and safe workspace.
Information
The residents directly affected will receive a letter with information about the work. For any questions, you can contact Daan van Grieken from the Management and Execution team. He can be reached at telephone number 040 2083444.
