Municipality launches trial reporting point for unsafe areas in public spaces
Sometimes a place feels uncomfortable or unsafe. This could be due to poor lighting or dark corners, for example. Or because something unpleasant happened there in the past. The municipality would like to know which areas in public spaces make our residents, particularly women, feel unsafe.
What is the purpose of the reporting point?
The reporting point is a trial to gain more insight into areas that are unsafe or feel unsafe. We aim to collect more information about the locations and circumstances that residents perceive as threatening or dangerous. This will help us take targeted action to create a safer public space. Please note: for situations that require immediate emergency response, always call 112.
Reporting unsafe areas
You can submit a report by sending an email to veiligheid@vught.nl. Include the location and provide as many details as possible about your experience and the local situation. You may also specify a particular time of day when you feel unsafe in that area. We will handle your data strictly confidentially and comply with the General Data Protection Regulation.
Call to all residents
Do you notice broken street lighting in your area, have a specific request to trim overgrown vegetation, or experience other forms of specific nuisance? Report such concrete requests or observations via the ‘BuitenBeter App’ (this can also be done anonymously). Even if you do not necessarily feel unsafe due to these circumstances. By submitting your report, you contribute to the safety and sense of security for all our residents!
What happens to the reports?
All reports received will be carefully reviewed, and where possible, forwarded to the relevant municipal departments for follow-up. If a report can be addressed within the municipality’s regular operations, we will ensure that action is taken. If the report does not immediately fit within regular operations but follow-up is desirable, we will submit the matter to the local council where necessary.
This is how we work together with our residents to create a safe, liveable, and familiar Vught for everyone.
