Make your choice! Students of Brede School Aalst cast their votes
On Monday, March 16, students of Brede School Aalst cast their votes during the school elections. Under the guidance of Tom, a parent and experienced polling station chairman, groups 5 through 8 chose from five fun activities proposed by the student council.
Votes were cast for:
- Sports Day
- Color Run
- Theatre/Music/Dance Day
- Old-fashioned school day
- Scavenger Hunt
The results
With an impressive turnout of 91%, the students overwhelmingly chose… the Color Run (57 votes). A colorful winner indeed! Mayor Oosterveer was present during the vote counting and officially announced the results at 2:00 PM. Council members were also in attendance, giving students a glimpse into how elections work and the impact their work can have on the residents of our municipality.
A real polling station at school
Thanks to the election project group, a real polling station was set up that day. The children not only learned what to vote for but, more importantly, how to vote. Democracy was brought right to their doorstep.
