Waddinxveen participates in the National Tile Removal Championship
This year, Waddinxveen is taking part in the National Tile Removal Championship. From March 19 to October 31, 2026, we will compete against other municipalities. Our goal? To replace as many tiles as possible with greenery.
We, like many residents of Waddinxveen, believe greenery is important. A green garden provides cooling in the summer, reduces waterlogging during heavy rain, and creates more space for plants and animals.
Will you join us?
Do you have tiles in your garden that could make way for plants? Remove them and replace them with greenery. Then, report the number of tiles you have removed via the National Tile Removal Championship website. The tiles will be added to Waddinxveen’s Tile Counter. Note: one tile counts as 30 x 30 cm. Larger or smaller stones should be converted to this size. One square meter contains 11 tiles.
What should you do with the tiles?
- reuse them in your garden, for example for a flower bed;
- dispose of them yourself at the Grondstoffenplein (Materials Square);
- have them collected for free by the Tegeltaxi (Tile Taxi) (make an appointment via waddinxveen.nl/tegeltaxi ).
Do you need extra advice on greening your garden? Then make an appointment for a free consultation with a garden coach. Book one here.
