Notification to the Central Electoral Committee
If you suspect that a counting error has been made at a polling station or municipal electoral committee when counting the votes, you can report this to the Central Electoral Committee. This concerns reports of possible errors in the minutes of the polling stations and municipal electoral committees or the digital file of the municipal electoral committee. Below you can read when you can submit a report and what conditions the report must meet. A report to the Central Electoral Committee can be submitted up to and including Tuesday 24 March 2026, 11:00 (48 hours before the Central Electoral Committee session). Reports submitted later will not be considered.
On Thursday 19 March, the municipal electoral committee will hold its session. The municipal electoral committee can correct the count of a polling station. It is therefore advisable to wait until the municipal electoral committee session has been completed and the results of the municipal electoral committee and the polling stations, including any corrections, have been published before submitting a report to the Central Electoral Committee. You can lodge an objection directly during the session of a polling station and the municipal electoral committee. The (municipal) electoral committee will then handle your objection and include it in the minutes of the session. To do so, you must be personally present at the session of the (municipal) electoral committee in the Weert town hall.
Conditions for submitting a report
Reports must be submitted in writing to the Central Electoral Committee, using the button above. Reports cannot be submitted by telephone or via social media. A report about possible counting errors must meet a number of conditions to be considered by the Central Electoral Committee.
The following conditions apply:
- Reports must be in the possession of the Central Electoral Committee by Tuesday 24 March 2026, 11:00.
- Reports must concern possible errors in the counting of votes in the minutes or the digital file with the results of the municipality. These are errors that the municipal electoral committee can correct. Objections about other matters can be lodged during the session of the relevant (municipal) electoral committee. For example, about a polling station that opened late or where there were insufficient ballot papers.
- A report must be substantiated and specific. Simply stating that an error has been made is not sufficient. The person submitting the report must indicate exactly what the error is, which polling station it concerns and what the error entails.
- The report must concern something you have personally observed, not hearsay. For example: “I voted for candidate X and cannot find my vote.” Not: “I heard that polling station X did not count correctly.” Or: “My neighbour says he voted for candidate X and his vote cannot be found.”
- Reports must be submitted in writing to the Central Electoral Committee. This can be done using the form below. Reports cannot be submitted by telephone or via social media.
- Due to the secrecy of the vote, you do not need to provide personal details in the report.
- The Central Electoral Committee will report on the processing and handling of the reports received in the annex to the minutes. This minutes will be published on the municipal website immediately after the session.
