N211 Wippolderlaan closed during Easter weekend
During the Easter weekend, the N211 Wippolderlaan will be closed between Erasmusweg in The Hague and the A4 motorway. The road will be closed from Thursday, April 2 at 10:00 PM until Tuesday, April 7 at 4:00 AM.
Please note, this is a longer closure than a regular weekend closure.
This is what will happen
Over the Easter weekend, the Province of South Holland will carry out extensive roadworks. These works can only be safely completed without traffic.
At the intersection of the N211 and Laan van Wateringseveld, the deck of the flyover will be moved to its final position on the N211. The deck was pre-assembled along the N211 and will be transported using special vehicles.
At the intersection of the N211 and Wateringveldseweg, a pile mat will be constructed. Around 40 piles will be driven into the ground over the weekend to ensure a stable transition to the new intersection above the lowered section.
Near the intersection of the N211 and N222, a culvert will be installed under the road to ensure proper water flow.
Disruption cannot be avoided
The closure has been planned in consultation and with the approval of the municipalities of The Hague, Westland, Midden-Delfland, and Rijswijk, as well as the Haaglanden Safety Region. Figures show that traffic is lighter on Good Friday and Easter Monday, so road users will experience the least disruption during this period. This extended weekend closure allows various construction activities to be combined for more efficient building.
Although the Province of South Holland is doing its utmost to minimize disruption, some inconvenience is unavoidable. For example, pile-driving activities may be audible in the surrounding area. The closure may also lead to increased traffic on surrounding roads.
Follow the diversion signs and consider alternative travel plans
Signs along the road will provide instructions and detours via Prinses Beatrixlaan in Rijswijk and/or the N223. If possible, consider planning your journey differently. For example, take the bike or bus. Bus line 37 will operate according to the regular timetable during the weekend closure.
More weekend closures are planned this year
- Friday, September 4 to Monday, September 7
- Thursday, October 1 to Monday, October 5
