Apply for home subsidy starting March 1
Private owners of a national monument with a residential function can once again apply for home subsidy from the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE) between March 1 and April 30, 2026. Owners can apply for subsidy for costs incurred in 2025.
Adjusted submission requirements
It appears that applications are not always easy to assess in practice, which creates unnecessary extra work for both applicants and assessors. By providing clearer instructions to applicants about which attachments are required to substantiate the reported costs, the expectation is that less information will need to be requested during the assessment period.
For example, this includes submitting photos of the property before and after maintenance work. In specific cases, additional attachments must also be included with the application. Finally, the submission requirements have been clarified in several areas, and it is now explicitly stated which invoices you can submit and which documents you should keep on hand in which cases.
Inspection report
If your application includes costs exceeding €70,000, you are required to submit an inspection report. This report must be prepared by an expert or a qualified organization, such as the Monuments Watch (Monumentenwacht). The costs of the inspection report are eligible for subsidy.
Applications with the VvE
If you are a member of an Owners' Association (VvE), you can authorize a representative of the VvE to submit the subsidy application on your behalf. This is simpler and more efficient. An application can be made on behalf of the entire VvE or a group of owners within the VvE.
Subsidy percentage
The maximum subsidy percentage under the home subsidy scheme is 38%. This percentage only applies if the available budget is sufficient. If the budget is insufficient, the subsidy percentage will be reduced so that all eligible applications can be approved. No applications will be rejected due to insufficient budget.
More information about the home subsidy
More information about applying for the home subsidy can be found on our website. On February 2, the RCE hosted a webinar for owners of national monuments who wish to apply for home subsidy in 2026. The webinar explained who is eligible for subsidy, which costs are eligible, and how the application portal works. It also covered the tightened rules for submitting an application in 2026. The webinar is available to watch online.
If you have questions about your subsidy application, you can always contact us. The RCE InfoDesk can be reached via the contact form or by phone during office hours at (033) 421 7 456.
