There are no other poultry farms within the 1-kilometer zone. Within the 3-kilometer zone, there are 12 other poultry farms that are being screened by the NVWA and monitored by the Animal Health Service. There are 62 other poultry farms within the 10-kilometer zone.
Transport Ban
A transport ban is in effect immediately for the entire 10-kilometer zone, where a total of 74 other farms are located. This means that no poultry and breeding and consumption eggs may be transported from locations with birds in this zone. There is also a ban on the removal of manure from birds and used bedding, as well as for other animals and animal products from farms with birds. These measures are necessary to prevent the spread to other parts of the country.
Where the 10-kilometer zone is located can be seen on the animal disease viewer of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).
National Measures
Since November 20, 2024, a national confinement and shielding obligation has been in effect in the Netherlands. The shielding obligation applies to kept birds, and a confinement obligation applies to commercially kept birds, with the exception of pheasants, waterfowl, and ornamental waterfowl. These must be shielded.
Tracing Research
The NVWA conducts tracing research into risky contacts. This investigates whether products or poultry have been transported to and from this location in the period prior to the notification. If necessary, additional measures will follow, such as extra sampling or blocking a risky contact farm. These measures will be reported via an update in this press release and through the online channels of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature (LVVN).
