Friesland will start working on making the regional manufacturing industry, such as the textile industry and machinery construction, more sustainable following this allocation. This requires many new skills and knowledge within companies.
A coalition of companies and educational institutions, led by Aeres, will also work in multiple regions on a retraining and upskilling program for companies in the dairy industry and the confectionery and bakery sectors. This contributes to the transition to circular production in the food industry.
In the Port of Rotterdam, efforts are being made to train employees to become coordinators who can solve complex processes, such as network congestion in the port.
State Secretary Mariëlle Paul: “The fact that educational institutions and hundreds of companies in all provinces across the Netherlands are now actively getting to work, is an incredibly beautiful result of this scheme. It shows the great involvement of education and business in the societal challenges we face in areas such as the energy and raw materials transition. At the same time, it also demonstrates the enormous drive to contribute to a well-trained workforce.”
LLO Catalyst
In the coming years, labor market shortages will only increase, while labor productivity declines, and we face significant societal challenges. Lifelong learning is becoming increasingly important.
The LLO Catalyst is a multi-year investment from the National Growth Fund aimed at promoting Lifelong Learning within regions and sectors. Educational institutions in vocational education, universities of applied sciences, and universities work together with social organizations and businesses to respond to a rapidly changing society and labor market. The awarded grant applications also contribute to the innovation and training of professionals, particularly through retraining and upskilling or by enhancing learning and innovation in the workplace.
