The TSB Scheme was already available for people with allergic occupational asthma, lung cancer due to asbestos, and CSE (painters disease). As of July 1, 2025, the following will be added:
- nasal (sinus) cancer due to wood dust. This disease can occur from inhaling wood dust (for example, while working with wood) and when making plywood and particle boards.
- silicosis (irreversible lung damage due to inflammatory reactions). This disease can occur from inhaling respirable crystalline silica (silica) while working with natural stone, brick, composite stone, concrete, and cement.
- lung cancer due to silica. This disease also occurs from inhaling respirable crystalline silica.
In addition to the expansion, some changes are also being made to the protocols to increase the chances of approval. These adjustments provide more room for customization. For instance, the calculation for lung cancer due to asbestos has been adjusted, allowing a patient to meet the threshold value more quickly.
People whose previous applications were rejected because the relationship between the disease and the work was not clear enough according to the old protocols can reapply for compensation. Those affected have received a letter from the Social Insurance Bank (SVB). Note: a new application does not always mean that the relationship between exposure to a substance and the disease is now clear enough. For those who were rejected for another reason, reapplying is not useful.
The one-time compensation for a patient suffering from an occupational disease amounts to over 25,000 euros.
