Hinkelien Schreuder new chair of the Doping Authority
Hinkelien Schreuder will take up the position of chair of the Doping Authority on 1 June. The Council of Ministers has approved the appointment by Minister Sophie Hermans of Public Health, Welfare and Sport, following a proposal from NOC*NSF.
With Hinkelien Schreuder at the helm, the Doping Authority gains a chair with an international top-level sports background and extensive management experience. Schreuder previously worked as a strategic advisor at Schiphol.
As both an athlete and later in various management and supervisory roles, Schreuder has been closely involved in the issue of sports integrity in recent years. Since 2019, she has been a member of the Advisory Council of the Doping Authority and is also chair of the Supervisory Board of the Sports Law Institute (ISR). Previously, she served as a member and chair of the Athletes' Committee of NOC*NSF and, in that capacity, as a board member of the Dutch sports umbrella organisation.
Hinkelien Schreuder competed at the highest level as a swimmer for more than a decade. At the 2008 Olympic Games, she was part of the team that won gold in the 4x100m freestyle relay, and four years later she won silver with the relay team at the Games.
Hinkelien Schreuder: “Fair sport is essential for the trust of athletes and society in the power of sport. Performance must be the result of talent, effort and equal opportunities. The social value of sport is immense, but it requires ongoing protection. The Doping Authority plays a crucial role in this by striving for clean and honest sport. I look forward to taking on this responsibility with conviction and a strong sense of public duty.”
Schreuder has been appointed for a four-year term and will succeed Harro Knijff, who has been serving as interim chair of the Doping Authority since autumn 2025.
