Night-time polling station draws hundreds of young people to Luxor Live
Hundreds of Arnhem residents cast their votes at Luxor Live during The Night-time Vote in the early hours of March 17-18. From 9:00 PM onwards, Luxor Live filled up with visitors drawn by performances from Afro Bros, Tribe Hiphop Choir Collective, and Onav, among others. In the upper hall, young people engaged in discussions with Mayor Marcouch about their ideas and hopes for the city. In the basement, visitors creatively expressed what they consider important for Arnhem.

Around midnight, Mayor Marcouch took to the stage, opening the night-time polling station with a rap performance accompanied by the beats of Tribe Hiphop Choir Collective. Visitors then cast their votes in polling booths set up on and around the stage. Between midnight and 2:00 AM, 298 Arnhem residents cast their votes this way.
Mayor Marcouch: “Our democracy thrives only when people participate. By combining voting with music, we show that democracy is something to experience together. With your vote, you help shape the Arnhem of the future. And if not for yourself, do it for your child, your grandfather or grandmother, your brother or sister, or that little nephew who will grow up in this city one day. Voting is taking responsibility for one another.”
The Night-time Vote is part of a broader municipal approach in Arnhem to make voting more accessible and reach new target groups, particularly young people.
