Free compost available for pickup
Saturday, March 28, is National Compost Day. You can pick up free compost at our Buitenzorg location, Van Doornestraat 5 in Assen. Per address, you can fill up to one trailer. On Saturday, a staff member with a shovel will be present to help you load the compost.
From kitchen waste to rich garden soil
This compost is made from your GFT waste and comes from Attero. Attero processes GFT waste into compost. They do this by first collecting and shredding the waste. It is then placed in large piles, where it slowly decomposes. This process takes about twelve weeks. The result is nutrient-rich compost that is excellent for the soil.
Nutrition for your garden
You can use the compost effectively in your garden. You can mix it into the soil in your vegetable garden or flower beds. It also works excellently as a mulch around plants and shrubs. Compost helps the soil retain moisture better and provides plants with the nutrients they need.
Circular economy
By separating your GFT waste, you contribute to this circular process. Your food scraps and garden waste return as something useful. That benefits your garden and the environment. The location will be open on Saturday, March 28, from 08:00 to 15:00. Arrive early—while supplies last!
