Free fall risk test for seniors in Barendrecht. How steady are you?
Did you know that in the Netherlands, every five minutes a senior aged 65 or older ends up in the emergency room after a fall? Additionally, many fall incidents occur where no hospital visit is necessary. This highlights how important it is for seniors to gain insight into their fall risk and know what they can do themselves to prevent a fall.
To assist residents with this, KijkopWelzijn, in collaboration with the municipality of Barendrecht and local physiotherapists, will organize two fall prevention screening days in April 2026. During these mornings, participants can voluntarily take a fall risk test.
Insight into balance and mobility
The test is conducted on the SmartFloor, an innovative measuring floor that provides insight into balance and mobility in just a few steps. If necessary, additional balance and reach tests will be performed under the guidance of a physiotherapist.
During the screening days, participants will also receive information about fall prevention programs in Barendrecht. Those interested after the screening can sign up for a suitable follow-up program. The screening days are free of charge. Participation in any follow-up program may require a personal contribution.
