March 23-27: Money Week
On March 23, the annual Money Week begins. During this national themed week, primary, secondary, and vocational education students will engage with financial education. This also includes our municipality.
The theme of Money Week 2026 is ‘Money Fairy Tales: Too Good to Be True?’ Money fairy tales are enticing but often incorrect or unrealistic ideas about money. During Money Week, young people will learn to recognize misconceptions about money, see through clever advertising tricks, and keep their expectations about money realistic.
What is the Municipality of Berg en Dal doing this year?
Employees from the Debt Assistance team of the municipality have planned various activities for Money Week. Among other things, there will be a themed table in the libraries in Groesbeek, Millingen aan de Rijn, and Beek. The debt assistance workers will also visit schools, give guest lessons in kindergarten classes, and provide information to daycare centers.
Since January, guest lessons have been held at secondary schools in the municipality in collaboration with Moneystart. Using the ‘How Do You Get Rich?’ method, they teach vulnerable young people to become financially competent and capable of taking action before they turn 18.
