How can you register?
This year, special conditions apply. The municipality wishes to lease the land to a collaboration as referred to in Article 5.8.1 of the Regulation on European EZ, LVVN and KGG subsidies 2021, which will participate in the Extensification subsidy scheme for transition areas N2000 under this regulation (hereinafter: the extensification scheme).
If you meet these requirements and would like to be considered for the lease, send an email to info@bergen.nl by no later than 7 April 2026. Include at least the following information:
- Name, address, telephone number and email address of the registrant;
- A recent extract from the Chamber of Commerce’s trade register for the registrant (the collaboration). This extract may not be older than one year;
- Details of the crop or crops to be grown on the plots;
- Details of the total area of land for which the collaboration will participate in the extensification scheme.
The municipality aims to make a final decision on the lease award by 8 April 2026 at the latest.

What are the conditions?
- By registering for this award procedure, the registrant agrees to the conditions, criteria and selection procedure set out in this registration;
- The winning registrant will enter into a liberalised lease agreement with the Municipality of Bergen for a period of at least four years, in accordance with the municipality’s standard lease agreement, with the additional condition that the collaboration must participate in the extensification scheme under the Regulation on European EZ, LVVN and KGG subsidies 2021. The standard lease agreement can be sent upon request;
- The annual lease price is €1,000 per hectare. This amounts to a total of €110,500 per year;
- Registration constitutes an irrevocable offer. The municipality may accept this offer by awarding the lease agreement to the registrant. Conditional registrations are not permitted and will be deemed invalid;
- This is a liberalised lease, which means that registrants must be engaged in commercial agriculture or horticulture to be eligible;
- Registrants must specify the crop or crops to be grown on the leased plots. Only registrants who grow crops exclusively for food for humans and/or animals on the leased plots will be considered for selection.
What is the selection order?
1. Agricultural area in the extensification scheme
If multiple registrations meet the selection criteria, the collaboration with the largest area of agricultural land (excluding the leased plots) participating in the extensification scheme will be selected.
2. Lottery
If, after assessing the area size, registrations are still equal, the lessee will be chosen by lottery.
Reservation
The municipality reserves the right to terminate the award procedure without giving reasons before making a final decision. The municipality also reserves the right not to award the lease for any reason.
