Information meetings about dyke reinforcement
Research shows that parts of the Southern Waaldijk-East dyke section do not meet the safety requirements for 2050. This concerns the dyke between Weurt and Dreumel, covering a length of 35.5 kilometres. Waterschap Rivierenland is examining what measures are needed to keep it safe in the future. During the information meeting, you can learn more about this and ask questions.
Reinforcement is necessary
Waterschap Rivierenland is responsible for the dikes in our municipality. The fact that research is now being conducted into the Southern Waaldijk-East does not mean that it is unsafe. Regular checks are carried out to ensure that everything still meets the requirements. However, adjustments will be needed in the long term. Our dyke requires reinforcement.

The entire dyke section starts on the west side of Weurt lock. The dyke briefly touches the municipal border of Nijmegen near the Van Heemstraweg and then runs through the rural areas of Weurt, Beuningen and Ewijk. After the underpass under the A50, the dyke follows the route along Winssen and Deest and then continues via Boven-Leeuwen to Dreumel.
