18 March: Municipal Elections
Where can you vote?
You can vote at 24 polling stations in our municipality. The polling stations are open from 07:30 to 21:00. An overview of all polling stations is available on our website: www.borger-odoorn.nl/stembureaus.
List of candidates
You will receive the list of candidates by post no later than 13 March 2026.
No polling pass received or lost
Have you not yet received your polling pass by 4 March? Or have you lost it? You can request a replacement polling pass. This is possible from Monday, 2 March 2026. Please note: you can only request a replacement polling pass once.
You can request a polling pass digitally. Your request must reach us no later than Friday, 13 March. You can also visit the town hall to request a replacement polling pass. This is possible until Tuesday, 17 March, at 12:00. Please bring your ID.
How do you vote?
You vote by marking the white box in front of the name of your chosen candidate in red. After filling in the ballot paper, fold it so that the list of candidates is no longer visible. Place the ballot paper in the ballot box. Did you make a mistake when filling in the ballot paper? You can request a new ballot paper from the polling station staff. You will receive one replacement ballot paper.
Voting with a visual impairment
All polling stations have an enlarged list of candidates and a magnifying glass available. For blind and visually impaired voters, we have a tactile voting device at the polling station in Hallenhoes in Exloo. This is a special tool with audio support for voters with visual impairments.

Attend the results evening?
All polling stations close at 21:00. After that, all votes will be counted at the party level. Mayor Jan Seton will announce the results, and the lead candidates of the seven political parties will speak. You are very welcome to attend! Light refreshments will be provided.

Election event at Borger Library
On Monday, 16 March, from 19:00 to 21:00, Borger Library, ProDemos, and Taalhuis Borger are organising an interactive election event at Borger Library. In the run-up to the municipal elections on 18 March, you will learn what the municipality does, what the elections are about, and how voting works. This will be done in a fun and easy way with a quiz, a game, and videos. During the last half hour, lead candidates and councillors will answer your questions. Everyone is welcome. Especially if you know little about politics but want to be well-prepared when you go to the polling station!
