Boxtel Municipality Continues to Invest in Greener and More Biodiverse Countryside
The municipality of Boxtel will continue the Landscape Incentive Scheme (StiLa) next year as well, a collaboration between the province, municipalities, and water boards in North Brabant. Through this scheme, private landowners, farmers, the province, and water boards work together to strengthen nature and the landscape. The results of recent years show that this approach works: since 2020, 30 green projects have already been completed in Boxtel.
Working Together for a More Beautiful Countryside
With financial support from the StiLa scheme, landscape features in the countryside are established or managed, such as trees, hedges, ponds, wildflower margins, and nature-friendly banks. These elements contribute to a richer landscape and help species like the grey partridge, little owl, salamanders, butterflies, and wild bees by providing food, shelter, and connections between habitats.
Results 2020–2025
Between June 2020 and September 2025, 30 projects were carried out in the municipality of Boxtel. These initiatives came from both farmers and private landowners in the countryside. The main results include the establishment and management of:
- Trees, hedges, alder belts, pollarded trees, and coppiced hedges.
- New and existing standard fruit trees.
- Ponds and nature-friendly banks.
- Wildflower margins and winter food fields for farmland birds and pollinators.
- Fencing and protection of young plantings against damage.
These projects are visibly reflected in the landscape and demonstrably contribute to greater biodiversity, improved soil and water quality, and an attractive countryside.
Want to Participate? You Can!
