Exploitation of Sportcafé Rumpenerbeemden Passed to Next Generation
After 32 years, Theo and Trudy Berkers will stop operating Sportcafé Rumpenerbeemden. Recently, the municipality of Brunssum, owner of the sports café, signed a lease agreement with the new operator, Tamara Jongmans-de Groot. This ensures the continuity of this catering facility for the coming years.
Sportcafé Rumpenerbeemden is located next to Sporthal Rumpen. This municipal accommodation houses various associations, including sports clubs for football, taekwondo, judo, badminton, and volleyball. Various associations for the disabled also regularly meet here. Sportcafé Rumpenerbeemden offers these users the opportunity to chat convivially afterwards, enjoying drinks and snacks.
Alderman Jaimy van Dijk (Real Estate) is pleased with the transfer. “Sporthal Rumpen has an important social function for many associations, for local culture. The sports café is inseparably connected to the sports hall, precisely because it is a place where you can still be together convivially and informally afterwards. I am therefore very pleased that Theo and Trudy can pass the baton to the next generation. I would like to thank both of them enormously for their long-term commitment, which has made the café grow into a kind of second living room for many associations. And of course, I would like to congratulate Tamara warmly on this new agreement and wish her all the success in the exploitation.”
