Roadworks on Oastein entrance in Feanwâlden completed earlier
On Thursday afternoon, 19 March, the renovated section of Oastein in Feanwâlden will reopen to all traffic. The new cycle path alongside the road will also be in use from that date.
The road section of Oastein between Rûnwei and Boskrâne has received a new asphalt layer. Additionally, the cycle path has been fully renovated, widened to 3.5 metres, and constructed in concrete. This has significantly improved traffic safety and cyclists' comfort.
Between Hagedoarn and Boskrâne, the street has been completely redesigned. The new paving matches the style of Feanwâlden’s town centre. The design was developed in collaboration with the local community and presented during an open-house evening. Furthermore, the sewerage system in this section has been renewed, with the pipes positioned in the middle of the road to prevent damage from tree roots.
The project was carried out by the municipality in cooperation with Wetterskip Fryslân, which replaced the sewage pressure pipeline in this section. By combining these works, the street only needed to be opened once.
The construction was handled by Folkertsma Infra B.V. from Ginnum. The contractor opened Oastein to traffic one week earlier than contractually agreed. Originally, the reopening was scheduled for late March 2026.
