Well-attended job fair brings talents and companies together
The Municipality of De Ronde Venen, in collaboration with neighboring municipality Uithoorn, organized a job fair. This took place on Tuesday, March 17, immediately following the career event Veen en Amstelland On Stage. More than 50 companies participated. In one day, they first met with VMBO students to spark their interest in career choices. Afterward, they engaged in conversations with over 300 job seekers, some of whom may have already started with a new employer.
Following previous successful editions, this job fair was also well-attended. Many companies are in need of staff, and in De Ronde Venen and the surrounding region, there are also many job seekers, some with a distance to the labor market. The municipalities aim to create a better connection between these two groups. Job seekers known to the municipalities or the UWV received an invitation.
According to Karin Wateler, organizer of Veen en Amstelland On Stage, this approach was a success: “The career event is exactly what the name suggests: a celebration for VMBO students to get acquainted with various professionals. It’s fantastic to connect the new generation with companies and, once again, provide job seekers with an opportunity. The job fair is a great addition to the career event. A big thank you to all the companies and professionals who shared their expertise and enthusiasm!”
Councilor Anja Vijselaar, responsible for the economy and labor market, also looks back with satisfaction: “It’s wonderful that we could organize this job fair again. Employers are eager to find candidates for their open positions. Nowhere else can an employer meet dozens of candidates in a single day. For some candidates, this was even the first time they could apply so extensively. The variety of companies was impressive: from healthcare and cleaning to logistics, production, security, construction, retail, education, childcare, and working for the municipality. Thanks to the presence of job coaches and client managers, candidates could be directly guided toward suitable employment.”
For job seekers, it was an opportunity to explore a variety of professions and speak directly with employers. Business cards were exchanged, contact details were noted, and even introductory interviews were scheduled. The municipality has announced that the next edition will take place in June.
