Compost Day: Free compost for residents
Garden waste and food scraps are the basis for a great new product: compost. A valuable raw material that can be used to improve soil in your (allotment) garden. HVC produces compost from the garden waste collected, such as potato peels, chicken bones, and apple cores. Each full 140-litre garden waste bin equals about 15 to 20 kilograms of compost.
On Saturday, March 28, you can collect free compost at the following locations:
- Municipal yard, Zuiderwijzend 7 in Hoogkarspel.
- Sports complex De Valken, car park Koggeweg in Hem.
Collection is possible between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM. No registration is required, but mornings may be busier. There is limited compost available.
Unfortunately, the location in Middenmeer is not available this year due to construction work.
