Garsthuizen receives money as first village from the Village and Neighborhood Visions program
Garsthuizen is the first village in the municipality of Eemsdelta to receive a contribution from measure 14 (Village and Neighborhood Visions).
On Wednesday, March 4, money was released for the first time from the Village and Neighborhood Visions program. Together with the management of the village house in Garsthuizen, we paused to reflect on this moment. To symbolically mark this occasion, the management of the village house received a check with the amount from the mayor and aldermen.
"Fantastic that we have handed over the first amount today."
On behalf of the college, aldermen Jan Menninga and Annalies Usmany-Dallinga handed over the check to the management of village house 't Binhoes in Garsthuizen. Annalies Usmany-Dallinga: "Fantastic that we have officially been able to hand over the first amount from measure 14 to the residents of Garsthuizen. This is exactly what measure 14 is for: enabling initiatives from residents and building together a strong and livable community. The fact that we can already take this step shows that the program is running well. More than ten villages or neighborhoods are already busy working on creating a village or neighborhood vision. And more than 20 villages and neighborhoods have a process supervisor selected, so they can also get to work. Great that we have been able to start so wonderfully from this measure and that the residents of Garsthuizen can now continue with their village house. I look forward to the beautiful result that they will achieve with this amount."
Village and Neighborhood Visions program
One of the measures to settle the honor debt of the Netherlands to the gas extraction area is measure 14: for every neighborhood and every village in the municipality of Eemsdelta, money has been made available to improve livability. As a college and council, we have ensured that residents have more than 50% say over this amount. Therefore, a fixed amount has been made available per village and neighborhood to improve livability. Residents themselves decide what is done with the amount for their village or neighborhood. They do this by writing a village or neighborhood vision. For the guidance of this, the municipality of Eemsdelta has the Village and Neighborhood Visions program. Garsthuizen has its village vision ready and could therefore receive money from measure 14. Adapting village house 't Binhoes is one of the projects from the village vision.
