Additional funding for first-time buyers in Ermelo's housing market
We want young people and first-time buyers to be able to continue living in our village. The starter loan is an indispensable tool in this regard. Given the high number of applications this year, the budget has been temporarily increased by €490,000. This immediately creates room for 14 additional first-time buyers to purchase a home.
Arap-John Tigchelaar, Alderman for Housing: "We believe it is important for young people and first-time buyers to be able to stay in their own village. For them, buying a first home is often difficult. With this extra funding and our other construction plans, we are doing everything we can to support them. This makes the step toward owning a home just a little easier."
Loan conditions
The starter loan can be used for both existing homes and new builds. An important condition is that the home may not cost more than €399,500. The loan itself is capped at €35,000.
One of many measures
The starter loan is one of the ways we are working to ensure there are enough homes. We are taking many other steps as well. For example, 260 social housing units are being built, and there are over 50 other new construction projects. We are also exploring smart solutions, such as splitting homes or plots and converting holiday parks into residential areas.
Later this year, we will review how the starter loan has been used over the past few years. After that, we will decide how much funding will be needed for these loans in the future.
