New milestone in the development of the MFA Sommelsdijk: construction team agreement signed
A construction team agreement has been signed for the new Multifunctional Accommodation (MFA) on Groene Zoom in Sommelsdijk. The building will soon house several organizations: OBS J.C. van Gent, Wijkvereniging De Zwaluw, Kinderopvang Kibeo, and a gymnasium (movement box) provided by the municipality.
On Thursday, March 19, the Municipality of Goeree-Overflakkee, contractor Bouwbedrijf Boogert from Oosterland, and DWT installatiegroep from Goes signed this agreement. This step marks the beginning of a new phase in the project. The building plans are now being further developed in collaboration with the construction and installation partners. Alderman Berend Jan Bruggeman: “With this step, we are getting closer to a beautiful new location for education, childcare, and community in Sommelsdijk. Together with our partners, we are working on a building that is ready for the future.”
From design to implementation
The construction team agreement marks the start of the second phase of the design process. In this phase, the executing parties are actively involved. This helps improve the building’s quality and keeps costs under control. Over the past period, work has been done on an initial design for the building. The spatial planning procedure for the location is also underway. Residents and stakeholders have had the opportunity to contribute their ideas and thoughts on the plans.
The first design of the MFA aligns with the surroundings of Sommelsdijk. The building is inspired by the ‘juunrenne’, a traditional onion barn from the region. The building will also be sustainable and nature-inclusive, with attention paid to the reuse of materials and the integration of plants and animals in the area.
