Construction work for new mooring piers along the Naardertrekvaart until 25 May 2026
Gooise Meren Municipality is installing 50 new mooring piers along the Naardertrekvaart, between Vaartweg 2 and 104. This will provide safe, neat, and sustainable mooring spots for pleasure boats. The construction work will begin on 25 March 2026 and is expected to last until 25 May 2026.
Construction activities
The following steps will be taken to install the new piers:
- Removal of old banks
- Installation of piles
- Laying of new piers
- Removal of unusable, neglected, and poorly maintained boats
You may experience temporary noise and (partial) closures of the walking path (Schelpenpad).
Temporary relocation of boats
The work will be carried out in phases lasting approximately 6 to 14 days. Each phase will focus on a different section of the canal. Boats moored in the affected areas will be temporarily relocated to another part of the bank. After the work is completed, the boats will be returned to their original locations. If you prefer to relocate your boat yourself, that is also possible.

We will work by groups of mooring spot numbers. This schedule shows when work will take place at which numbers. The map shows where along the Naardertrekvaart the mooring spot numbers are located (external link).

Removal of unusable boats
There are still unusable, neglected, and poorly maintained boats in the canal. These will be marked with a sticker. Owners will have four weeks to remove the boat themselves. If the boat remains, we will remove it. Read how the removal of unusable boats works.
Exemption for permanent mooring spots
If you wish to moor your pleasure boat at a new pier, you will need a paid exemption for a permanent mooring spot around summer 2026. More information will follow.
