Green light for the arrival of Herbergier at Krugerlaan
Care provider De Herbergier plans to open a home for around 20 people with dementia in the former church at Krugerlaan 110 in Gouda. The municipality of Gouda sees the arrival of a Herbergier as a valuable addition to the city’s housing and care options and is therefore supporting and cooperating with the plan.
“There is an increasing demand for facilities for elderly people with dementia, and Gouda currently does not have a concept like that of the Herbergier. With the arrival of a Herbergier, Gouda residents who need this type of care can continue to live in the city. De Herbergier is a small-scale care provider where people with dementia can live as normally as possible. Residents help out when they can and want to, and receive assistance when necessary. They also have their own private room. Each Herbergier is run by two care entrepreneurs who live in their own homes within the building. This means they are always nearby and know the residents well. In addition to the managers, staff and volunteers assist the residents and provide personal attention. Since the first Herbergier opened in 2007, a total of 55 Herbergiers have now been established across the Netherlands.
