Inspections Taskforce Room-by-Room Rental
Last week, employees of Supervision & Enforcement and Safety in Oud Gastel, Bosschenhoofd, and Oudenbosch carried out inspections on behalf of the Taskforce for Room-by-Room Rental.
Mayor Anne Mulder: “In Halderberge, room-by-room rental is not permitted. A dwelling may not be used by more than one household. To check and enforce this, the municipality has established the Taskforce for Room-by-Room Rental. During this inspection, six locations were visited. At three locations, a total of 12 people were found. There were violations of room-by-room rental regulations, and the situation was in conflict with the Good Landlordship Act. This immediately highlights the importance of the Taskforce. The municipality will write to the owners of these properties. This can ultimately, if the violation is not resolved, result in a penalty payment order.”
Inspections and Results
So far, the Taskforce has inspected a total of about 108 regular homes and 189 vacation homes. Sometimes, properties are visited multiple times. The aim is to carry out inspections in all nuclei. During the inspections, other violations, such as illegal construction, and signals of labor exploitation also come to light. Property owners are also addressed about these issues. Signals of labor exploitation are passed on to the Dutch Labor Inspectorate. If occupancy is found to be unsafe during an inspection, measures are taken.
