Transport ban in part of the municipality of Hardenberg, including for hobby poultry keepers
One of the measures is an immediate transport ban within a 10-kilometre radius of the affected farm. This also applies to part of our municipality. The transport ban covers:
- all birds and hatching and table eggs from a location with birds;
- manure from birds and used litter;
- animals and animal products originating from businesses with poultry;
The transport ban also applies to hobby poultry keepers.
A map showing the area covered by the transport ban is available on the website of the Dutch government (Rijksoverheid).
National measures against avian influenza for businesses and hobby poultry keepers
Currently, a national indoor housing order is in effect for commercial poultry farmers. If you are a hobby poultry keeper, a national containment order applies. Due to outbreaks of avian influenza, you are required to keep your poultry (chickens), waterfowl and flightless birds indoors to prevent contact with sick wild birds or their droppings. As a precautionary measure and given the situation in Dalen, we also advise hobby poultry keepers to house their birds indoors.
