Seeking a majority and collaboration
In Helmond, a majority requires 19 seats. It is rare for a single party to secure a majority. As a result, the largest party will seek out other parties to collaborate with over the next four years. This is known as a coalition. These parties will draft a coalition agreement outlining their plans for Helmond over the next four years. The remaining parties will then form the opposition.
Proposing aldermen
The parties forming the coalition will propose aldermen during a council meeting. Together with the mayor, these aldermen will form the Executive Board (B&W). They will then begin implementing the coalition agreement.
Farewell and installation meeting
Before the new municipal council can begin its work, the current council members will be bid farewell. This will take place on Monday, March 30, starting at 19:30, during a special council meeting.
Installation meeting for new council members
The installation meeting for the new council members will be held on Wednesday, April 1. During this meeting, the new council members for the 2026–2030 term will take their oath or pledge, promising to act with integrity as council members.
First council meeting with the new municipal council
This first meeting will take place on May 12. For more information about the meeting schedule and other information about the municipal council, visit Notubiz.
