Free compost as thanks for waste separation
On Saturday, March 28, 2026, it will again be National Compost Day. The municipality of Leusden will provide residents with free compost on this day as a thank you for separating GFT waste.
With this initiative, we also aim to highlight the benefits of separating vegetable, fruit, and garden waste (GFT) and food scraps, as well as the importance of quality compost for fertile soil and sustainable food production.
National Compost Day – March 28
When GFT and food scraps are properly separated and delivered, they can be turned into compost and biogas. Leusden performs well, both on average and compared to the rest of the country, in waste separation! That is why, as in previous years, we would like to thank residents in 2026 for their efforts in separating vegetable, fruit, and food scraps, garden waste, and other green waste.
Claim your compost
Residents of Leusden with an environmental pass can collect up to 3 bags of compost at the environmental station. Each bag contains 40 liters. Be sure to arrive early, as the supply will not be replenished. The environmental station at Spieghelweg 2 in Leusden opens at 8:00 AM. Don’t forget to bring your environmental pass! This year, recipients will also receive a summer flower seed mix.
Note: 3 bags per environmental pass/per address
It is not permitted to use multiple passes or collect compost for neighbors or family members. A maximum of three bags will be issued per address/environmental pass. Therefore, a person associated with the address on the pass must be present. However, you may come with your neighbor!
