News: Dutch Tile Removal Championship
Out with the tiles, in with the greenery. Starting today, Meerssen is joining numerous other municipalities in the final edition of the Dutch Tile Removal Championship. This year, all participants have a chance to win a famous patch of greenery for their own garden. In the Wipshop, which goes live today, unique green spaces can be seen, sourced from places like Walibi Holland and the Kröller Müller Museum. Everyone in the Netherlands can take part in this final edition, which runs until October 31. The Dutch Tile Removal Championship encourages people across the country to remove tiles from their gardens and replace them with plants, grass, or flowers. Together, we are working toward a climate-resilient living environment: more greenery ensures better water absorption during heavy rainfall, cooler cities during hot summers, and a healthier, more pleasant living space.
Kickoff in Meerssen
Will you help Meerssen reach the top 10 of most tiles removed? If you participate this year, you’ll receive a free plant kit! That’s a win-win situation.
How does it work?
- Remove your tiles, then email to report your name, postal code, and the number of tiles removed.
- Also report the number of tiles removed on nk-tegelwippen.nl.
- You will receive an email with further details on how to dispose of the tiles and collect your plant kit.
Until October 31, we’re competing with municipalities across the country to replace as many tiles as possible with greenery. Together, we’re making Meerssen greener—and you’ll go home with beautiful plants!
