First pile driven for new homes in Giessen-Oudekerk
On Tuesday, March 17, Alderman Bram Visser symbolically drove the first pile for the construction of 11 new homes in Giessen-Oudekerk, next to the new primary school.
These homes will be built on the site of the former school and its playground, adjacent to the new primary school. The new neighbourhood will feature a varied mix of different housing segments.
Bram Visser: “It’s wonderful to see that most of the new residents have a strong connection to the village. Thanks to the variety in housing types, we’ve created accommodation for a diverse group of people. This meets the needs of young and old alike.”
The driving of the first pile marks the official start of the construction of the homes. A special moment, particularly for the new residents.
A valuable addition to the village
The design for the new neighbourhood was created by Van der Padt & Partners, commissioned by De Waard Ontwikkeling. The plan includes the construction of 11 owner-occupied homes, consisting of: six detached houses, three lifetime homes, and one semi-detached house.
The design carefully takes the surroundings into account. The architecture and colour scheme complement the appearance of the adjacent primary school, creating a harmonious whole within the village landscape.
Planning: construction completed in 2026
The old school was demolished in 2025, after which the area was prepared for construction. With the driving of the first pile, the official start was given for the construction of the 11 new homes. If the work proceeds according to plan, the homes will be completed later this year.
