Construction begins on new social housing at Spronksweg–Hollanderstraat
Construction officially begins on 62 new social housing units at Spronksweg–Hollanderstraat in Oldebroek. On the site where 28 single-family homes previously stood, housing corporation Omnia Wonen and construction company Heijmans are developing a new residential area featuring energy-efficient apartments and ground-level homes. This project marks an important step in strengthening the social housing stock in the municipality.
A total of 52 apartments and ten ground-level homes will be built. The new housing is intended for various target groups, including young professionals, families, and seniors. This will create a mixed residential environment accommodating diverse households.
Erik Vos, Managing Director of Heijmans: “Together with Omnia Wonen and the municipality of Oldebroek, we are delivering social housing that we can be proud of. We are using sustainable timber-frame construction methods, fully aligned with our circular ambitions. Thanks to the short construction period, we are minimising disruption in the residential area. With this project, we are once again taking a concrete step forward in future-proof and responsible construction.”
Councillor Beerd Flier of the municipality of Oldebroek emphasises the importance of the development: “With this redevelopment, Oldebroek is taking an important step in strengthening our housing stock. It is good that sustainable and energy-efficient rental homes are being added here, precisely for residents who depend on them. This expansion ensures better housing mobility and provides young professionals, families, and seniors with a suitable place to live. In this way, we are building a future-proof and appropriate home for all our residents.”
Careful preparation
Prior to the new construction, the existing homes were demolished. Omnia Wonen has handled the process carefully, giving residents ample time to find alternative accommodation. This redevelopment has been meticulously prepared step by step, with attention to current residents and the surrounding area.
Peter Toonen, Managing Director of Omnia Wonen: “With the renewal at Spronksweg–Hollanderstraat, we are taking an important step in adding new social housing in Oldebroek. Together with our partners, we are building comfortable, energy-efficient, and affordable homes for our tenants. We have carefully guided this process and are pleased that we can now begin construction on these new homes.”
Sustainable and energy-efficient homes
The new construction will utilise sustainable building methods. The homes will be energy-efficient and comfortable, allowing future residents to benefit from lower energy costs and a pleasant living environment. The ten ground-level homes will be built using timber-frame construction with sustainable materials.
For various target groups
The homes will be divided into several types. The ten ground-level homes are suitable for single-person and two-person households and families. The thirty two-room apartments are primarily intended for young people, young professionals, and urgent housing seekers. Priority for the 22 three-room apartments will be given to housing movers. This will contribute to better housing mobility in the market. The homes are scheduled for completion in mid-2027.
