More types of waste can now go in the PMD bin
From January 1, 2026, more types of waste can be placed in the PMD bin. This is possible due to improved recycling methods.
PMD 3x YES main rule
- Is it a packaging?
- Is it empty (squeeze and scrape clean)?
- Is it from a household?
Only if the answer is 3x yes may it go in the PMD bin.
What can now be added to PMD?
- Coffee capsules (no need to empty) made of aluminium or plastic
- Aerosol cans, such as deodorant, whipped cream, or hairspray cans
- Larger plastic packaging and packaging films
- Packaging made of multiple materials, such as a paper bread bag with a plastic window, chip bags, or spice sachets
Why must packaging be empty?
During sorting, food residue can dirty the sorting machine. This prevents proper sorting and may cause a machine to malfunction.
Where does it belong?
In the Waste app - Afvalkalender Peel en Maas (This link leads to an external website) - you can look up under “what belongs where” the type of waste you want to dispose of and find out immediately where it should go.
