Municipality of Roosendaal achieves Level 3 on the Performance Ladder for Social Entrepreneurship (PSO) for the second time
The Municipality of Roosendaal has once again achieved Level 3 on the Performance Ladder for Social Entrepreneurship (PSO). This is the highest level of this national quality mark and a recognition of our commitment to social and inclusive employment practices.
The PSO is a scientifically validated measurement tool and quality mark developed by TNO. An independent certifying body has confirmed that we provide sustainable employment opportunities for people with a distance to the labour market in a commendable manner. We are proud of this achievement.
Social entrepreneurship: our approach
For us, social entrepreneurship means ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to participate and develop. We do this in two ways:
- Within our own organisation, we create job opportunities for people with a distance to the labour market, offering appropriate guidance and room for growth.
- In our procurement and tendering processes, we consciously choose suppliers that also engage in social entrepreneurship, such as sheltered workshops (SW companies) or organisations with a PSO certificate.
This approach is known as chain stimulation: by collaborating with socially entrepreneurial partners, we contribute to a more inclusive labour market and society.
What this means in practice
That social entrepreneurship is not just a paper ambition for us is evident every day in practice. For example, at Public Works, where supervisors work with their teams on both the greenery in our municipality and the development of their colleagues.
Stefan, a supervisor at Public Works, works daily with colleagues who have a distance to the labour market. He teaches them the trade, helps them grow in self-confidence, and sees how some transition into permanent employment.
“When you see someone taking steps and eventually landing a job on their own, that’s what it’s all about,” Stefan says.
With patience, clarity, and trust, he builds opportunities together with his team.
Level 3: a collective achievement
The PSO Performance Ladder consists of five levels, with Level 3 being the highest. This certification demonstrates that the Municipality of Roosendaal is demonstrably at the forefront of providing sustainable employment for people with a distance to the labour market.
This result is thanks to the dedication of many colleagues within the organisation. Together, we are working towards inclusion.
