New: P+R parking facility next to Diergaarde Blijdorp
Starting in June, visitors to Rotterdam can park their cars at P+R Blijdorp and continue their journey into the city by public transport. Parking at P+R Blijdorp is free if you then travel on by public transport.
The Municipality of Rotterdam and Diergaarde Blijdorp have jointly reserved 250 parking spaces at the zoo’s car park. The agreement for P+R Blijdorp runs until June 1, 2028.
10 minutes to Rotterdam Centraal
Councillor Pascal Lansink – Bastemeijer (Enforcement, Public Space and Mobility) is pleased with the additional P+R spaces: ‘Huge numbers of cars travel into Rotterdam via the A13 and A20 heading for Blijdorp. People on their way to work or visiting our city. From this new P+R, during peak hours you can take a bus nine times an hour and eight times an hour outside peak hours, reaching Rotterdam Centraal in just 10 minutes. An ideal parking spot, because when you leave again you’ll be on the motorway in no time.’
Diergaarde Blijdorp
The P+R is also a welcome solution for the zoo, says Toine Linders, CFO of Diergaarde Blijdorp: ‘This collaboration offers Blijdorp, as part of the recovery plan, a great opportunity to make better use of our car park.’
Also with electric shared scooters and bikes
At P+R Blijdorp, parking is free for up to 24 hours, just like at P+R Kralingse Zoom and P+R Slinge.
From June onwards, parking will even be free if you then use shared transport such as a scooter or bike. Parking at the P+R is also possible without taking public transport or shared transport afterwards. In that case, a day rate of €12.50 applies. The day rate also applies if you park for longer than 24 hours.
The expansion of P+R spaces in Rotterdam is necessary to reduce the number of vehicles entering the city centre. Read more about Rotterdam’s P+R sites on the website rotterdam.nl/pr-terreinen.
