New water culvert and additional parking spaces at Parklaan in Lutjebroek
The new water culvert, additional parking spaces, and a safer entrance at Parklaan in Lutjebroek are now complete. Alderman Slagter officially opened the culvert and the renovated road on March 6. From a polder barge, he cut the ribbon at the water culvert, marking the opening of the new passage to the other side of Parklaan.
The creation of a navigable culvert—a water passage—was a key priority for the municipal executive. When the municipality had to install a culvert for water flow during the construction of a ditch around Villa Oigenwois on Parklaan, Alderman Slagter saw an opportunity to make the water tunnel navigable as well. He expressed satisfaction that the province provided funding for this project.
Thanks to the provincial subsidy, we were able to install a navigable culvert. Stede Broec is a water-rich municipality with an extensive recreational boating network. This culvert creates a beautiful new boating route.
Parking spaces
Following the installation of the culvert, parking at Parklaan was also addressed. In response to residents' requests, more parking space was created. Fourteen new parking spots have now been added at the parking area near Villa Oigenwois on Parklaan.
Entrance and walking path
The parking space improvements were also used to enhance traffic safety on Parklaan. At the junction of Parklaan and P.J. Jongstraat, a raised plateau has been installed, clearly marking Parklaan as an exit road.
In addition to the demand for more parking, residents also requested an extension of the existing walking and cycling path. Alderman Slagter commented:
It’s great that we could fulfill this wish as well. From the plateau, a path has been created for pedestrians, connecting to the walking and cycling path on Parklaan toward De Woid.
Alongside the new walking path, the pavement on Parklaan has also been renovated up to the water culvert.
