Climate Atlas 2.0
Water Panel North (WPN) has created a new Climate Atlas. The atlas shows where North and Central Limburg are vulnerable to heat, drought, heavy rainfall, and flooding. It also highlights opportunities for solutions to address these challenges.
More insights and opportunities for greening
The atlas includes an up-to-date map showing where more greenery can be planted. This helps combat heat and waterlogging. The Climate Atlas is organized around five themes: heat, greening, water, drought, ecology, and water quality. The maps can be filtered to quickly find the best locations.
Easy to use
Anyone can view the atlas and zoom in to street or neighborhood level. This gives residents, entrepreneurs, and organizations a clear understanding of climate risks. It also shows where opportunities lie for greening and other measures.
Working together for a climate-resilient region
Municipality of Venlo is working within WPN alongside 14 other municipalities, Waterschap Limburg, and Water Supply Company Limburg. Partners such as ProRail, the GGD (Municipal Health Service), and the Safety Region also contributed to the atlas. Together, they are working toward a region better prepared for climate change.
