Open house meeting plans for Dwarsdiep stream valley and nature development on 30 March 2026
Prolander is transforming the Dwarsdiep stream valley into a nature area and water storage zone. This is being carried out on behalf of the Province of Groningen and water authority Noorderzijlvest. In addition, Prolander is developing plans for nature restoration in other areas within the Southern Westerquarter.
To inform local residents and other interested parties about the latest developments, Prolander is organising an open house meeting. Local residents and other stakeholders or interested parties are warmly invited to attend.
What can you expect?
During this meeting, you can learn about:
- The final design for the Dwarsdiep. At present, Prolander is examining where work can begin outside the water storage zone this autumn. This includes, for example, installing culverts (concrete pipes) and weirs to regulate water levels.
- The preliminary design for Wilgepad-Oost
- The current status of the preliminary design for Marumerlage-Noord. The preliminary design was previously discussed with local residents and stakeholders. Their ideas and wishes are being incorporated as far as possible into the final design.
You can take your time to view the plans. At various themed tables, you can discuss the plans with experts. There will also be presentations on area development in the Southern Westerquarter in the ‘De Wissel’ hall at set times.
