Westland much cleaner after National Cleanup Day
Last Saturday, volunteers rolled up their sleeves at various locations in Westland during National Cleanup Day. Residents joined forces to clean up litter in parks, streets, and squares using grabbers and trash bags.
National Cleanup Day is an annual nationwide initiative in which thousands of volunteers across the Netherlands clean up streets, parks, and other public spaces. The goal is to reduce litter, improve the living environment, and raise awareness among residents about the importance of a tidy neighborhood.
Cleanup action in 's-Gravenzande
One of the cleanup efforts took place in 's-Gravenzande. Around Marktplein and in the surrounding streets, over 50 volunteers collected litter. BieKlien co-organized this cleanup. According to Bianca Tiegelaar of BieKlien, it’s inspiring to see how many people are committed to a clean living environment: “Meeting each other and working together also highlights the many litter pickers that the municipality of Westland is fortunate to have.” In total, the volunteers collected a remarkable 52.6 kilograms of litter from the streets of ’s-Gravenzande.
