The municipality of Westland has over 119,000 residents, of which 92,649 are eligible to vote. There are 39 council seats to be allocated. In the 2022 municipal council elections, the turnout was 55.01%.
Follow-up Procedure
On Thursday, March 19, the votes will be counted centrally at candidate level in the De Pijl sports hall in Naaldwijk. The counting begins at 9:00 AM and is open to the public.
The Municipal Electoral Board (GSB) will record the number of counted votes at candidate level in a report. This report, along with the reports from the counts conducted at the 61 polling stations in Westland on March 19, will be published on www.gemeentewestland.nl at the end of the day. Anyone who wishes to do so may file a notice of a suspected error in the report of a polling station or the Municipal Electoral Board with the Central Electoral Board (CSB) by 10:00 AM on March 24. A notice may lead to a recount of one or more polling stations.
On March 26, the CSB will finalize the election results, including preference votes and seat allocation. The final reports will be published on the municipal website.
