Update on cycle route construction work
We have now completed more than half of the cycle route construction work. The route is expected to be fully completed by summer 2026. Below, you can read about the upcoming construction work and what we are currently working on.
Construction work in Harmelerwaard
Work in Harmelerwaard began on Monday, 9 March. The work is taking place from the intersection with Dorpsstraat to the transition to Zandweg. The work is expected to last until 24 April. During this period, Harmelerwaard will be closed. Traffic between Harmelen and Zandweg will be diverted in both directions via Utrechtsestraatweg, Veldhuizerweg, Landschapbaan and Europaweg. Cyclists will be diverted in both directions via Utrechtsestraatweg and Rijksstraatweg.
Closure of Kerkweg/Kalverstraat intersection
From Monday, 16 March to Friday, 20 March, the Kerkweg/Kalverstraat intersection will be closed to all traffic. To make the intersection more future-proof, we will be laying a new foundation. Traffic will be diverted via Kloosterweg, Kastanjelaan, Willen Alexanderlaan, Julianalaan and Bernhardlaan. Buses will temporarily run via Dorpsstraat to avoid the closed intersection. As a result, the following stops will be suspended: Kastanjelaan, Eikenlaan and Kalverstraat. To compensate, the bus will stop at two temporary stops: at the intersection of Dorpsstraat/Acacialaan and at the Reformed Church on Dorpsstraat.
Construction work in Haanwijk
From Wednesday, 25 March to 3 April, we will be installing three speed bumps and applying red coating to the asphalt in Haanwijk. This work can only be carried out in dry weather. In the event of rain, the work may be postponed. Traffic will be diverted via Leidsestraatweg during the work.
Dorpsstraat construction work (phase 5) postponed
Towards the end of the project, we will carry out work on Dorpsstraat. The work is expected to start in week 19 (Monday, 4 May). We have swapped phases 5 and 6 due to the fair and King’s Day. During these days, Dorpsstraat will be heavily used. By adjusting the schedule, we can prevent important roads from being closed during these events.
