New rules for façade advertising, displays and terrace advertising
From May 1, 2026, new rules will apply to façade advertising, displays and terrace advertising in Zandvoort. These rules aim to create an attractive and calm street scene, improve accessibility and provide a recognisable appearance for entrepreneurs and visitors.
The new advertising policy has been developed in collaboration with Ondernemers Belangen Zandvoort (OBZ).
Why these rules?
We want to ensure a neat, safe and clear public space. Over the past few years, the quantity and diversity of advertising displays have increased significantly. This has made the street scene in some places chaotic and less clear. This is not desirable for entrepreneurs, residents or visitors.
With clear and enforceable rules, we aim to achieve:
- More tranquillity in the public space
- An attractive and uniform appearance
- Sufficient visibility for entrepreneurs
- Better accessibility for pedestrians and emergency services
‘With these new rules, we are bringing more balance to the street scene. Entrepreneurs will remain clearly visible, but we will prevent excess and work together to ensure a well-maintained and accessible public space. This way, we keep Zandvoort attractive for residents, entrepreneurs and visitors all year round.’
Lars Carree
Councillor for Tourism and Economy
Transition period for entrepreneurs
The new rules will come into effect on May 1, 2026. Since adjustments may take time and money, a transition period will apply. This will give entrepreneurs sufficient time to adapt their advertising displays.
What exactly will change?
The rules apply to three types of displays:
- Façade advertising (e.g. signs, illuminated boxes, window stickers and flags)
- Displays (e.g. pavement signs, loose objects and outdoor shop windows)
- Terrace advertising (e.g. parasols, awnings and terrace screens)
Additional rules apply per area, such as for:
- Shopping and entertainment areas
- Residential areas
- Rural areas
- Industrial estates
- Promenade and beach
