Final results of Aalsmeer municipal council elections 2026 confirmed
Today, the Central Electoral Committee held a public session in the council chamber of Aalsmeer’s town hall to confirm the final results of the municipal council elections held on 18 March 2026. The session was chaired by the mayor and attended by members of the Central Electoral Committee.
The entire election process was conducted in accordance with the Electoral Act and the new counting procedure introduced in 2023. This procedure includes additional verification steps to further ensure the accuracy and reliability of the vote count. All checks, including recounts at candidate level, double data entry of results, and data analysis by the Electoral Council, were completed without irregularities. No complaints or objections from voters were received within the specified deadline. The Central Electoral Committee therefore concludes that the election process “was conducted carefully and in accordance with legal requirements.”

On Tuesday, 31 March, a council meeting will be held to say farewell to the current councillors. The newly elected councillors will be sworn in during the council meeting on Wednesday, 1 April. At this meeting, the councillors will take their oath or affirmation, and the new municipal council will be officially installed.
If one or more of the elected councillors are later appointed as aldermen, a vacancy will arise in the municipal council. These seats will be automatically filled by the next eligible candidate on the relevant list who has not yet been admitted as a councillor, following the same order as during the result confirmation.
Next steps
The minutes of the session will be published on the municipal website, and the results will appear in the Government Gazette. The municipal council will then decide on the admission of the elected members. The Central Electoral Committee expresses its great appreciation for the many volunteers involved in organising and conducting the elections. Thanks to their efforts, the process could proceed in an orderly and transparent manner.
